In this quarter’s report, we unpack the latest shifts in occupancy, rental rates, and regional move-in/move-out activity across more than 30,000 self-storage facilities nationwide.
This edition highlights several notable trends
- Occupancy improved from the first quarter and remained slightly ahead of last year.
- Move-in pricing strengthened during the busy season, outpacing the typical seasonal lift seen a year ago.
- Length of stay remained elevated, pointing to continued tenant stability and retention strength.
- The Midwest and Northeast led the quarter’s occupancy gains, while the West continued to set the pace overall.
- The South showed some signs of demand softness on an annual basis, even as broader industry performance remained steady.
